Survival Strategies

As a prepper you’re probably into planning. Most likely, you research and study the what is put out by experts. Whether we prepare for incidents small or large, we all ponder what we’d do if something world-as-we-know-it-ending went down.

The trouble is, a lot of the plans that get made are more likely to get you killed than to save you.r And people post these plans online, then new preppers read them and think, “Wow, what a great idea.”

Look I’m not an expert at all, and I do not claim to be king prepper, who knows absolutely everything. I’d just like you to consider the variables if one of these plans happens to be your default strategy.

Bad Strategy #1: “I’ll just hunt and live off the land.”

No, you probably won’t. You might try to hunt, but guess what? Loads of other people have this same idea. Unless you live hundreds of miles from civilization, the population of deer and small game will be quickly decimated in an event that renders the food delivery system inoperable.

Furthermore, hunting is not as easy as simply wandering into the woods, taking aim with a rifle, and popping a wandering buck in the head. Have you ever hunted? Have you done so recently, and by recently I mean within the past year? Have you ever field dressed an animal? Can you hit a moving target? Do you know how to set up snares? Do you know how to butcher and preserve meat? Are you in good enough shape to drag a 200 pound carcass through the woods?

If you can’t say yes to every single question listed here, hunting should probably not be your go-to plan for feeding your family.

Bad Strategy #2: “I’ll go into the woods and live there.”

This is closely related to Bad Strategy #1.

But it’s worse. Living in the wilderness is not going to be a marshmallow roast. First off, there are no marshmallows out there. Just lots of predators and food that has to be killed and skinned before you can eat it.

In this strategy, people like to talk about their proximities to a national forest. “There are thousands of acres, just on the other side of my fence.”

Okay. But when is the last time you went into that forest more than a few miles on foot? Did you spend more than a couple of nights there? Was the weather inclement?

What are your local predators (not including the human variety)? Do you have a camping kit that you can carry in on foot? Will your children and spouse be able to also carry supplies?

Are you planning to build a house with some tarps and a Swiss Army knife? What will you eat and drink? Are you adept at foraging in your area? For how long can you actually survive on what you can carry? How are your First Aid skills and what supplies will you have? Can you handle the loneliness? And what about the other, perhaps less than moral, individuals that have the same idea?

Have you ever lit a fire with wet wood? Have you ever camped, outside of a campground area? What if it rains? In many climates, getting wet is a death sentence.

Bad Strategy #3: “I’ll bug out on foot for miles through the mountains, even though I don’t regularly exercise.”

If bugging out on foot is one of your plans, I’d like to suggest you pick a clear day, put on a loaded backpack and some hiking boots, and go for a practice hike to your location. Go ahead. I’ll wait here.

This one really bothers me. There is a large contingent of armchair preppers who have this idea. However, they don’t exercise regularly. They look back 20-30 years to their high school or military glory days, when they played football,or had a drill sergeant screaming right behind them as they ran.

Just because you were once very physically fit, that doesn’t mean you are still able to hike up a mountain in bad weather with a 50 pound kit on your back.

This is a classic recipe for a heart attack, by the way. Extreme over-exertion. High-stress situation. High-sodium, easily packable food. Out-of-shape person.

A few miles into the journey, particularly if it includes a steep climb, the person will experience a pounding heart, dizziness, and faintness, as the body tries to shut down to protect itself from the unaccustomed demands. If the physical stress continues, the heart won’t be able to keep up with the demand to pump blood. Game. Over.

Embarking on an overly ambitious bug-out journey can endanger not only you, but the people making the trek with you. What if you have a heart attack half way up the mountain? What if you have an asthma attack? What if you injure your out-of-shape self? Who is going to help you? If the situation is bad enough that you’re bugging out, you aren’t likely to be airlifted to a hospital for medical care. Will someone put their own safety at risk to hang out with you while you recover?

I’m not trying to talk anyone into staying in a bad situation when bugging out could be the wiser course of action. But if your bug out route is a long distance or over difficult terrain, you need to get out there and start training before you put the lives of everyone in your team or family at risk.

Bad Strategy #4: “I have lots of weapons and tools. I’ve never used them. But I have them.”

Do you have prepper tools that are still in the box? How often do you make it to the shooting range? When’s the last time you actually felled a tree then chopped firewood? When did you do it without a chainsaw?

There are loads of different examples that I could give about tools that just sit there in their boxes, awaiting their moment of glory when it all hits the fan.

For the purposes of Bad Strategy #4, I’m including firearms as a tool. Skill with an axe is not a given. Accurate aim doesn’t stay with you if you don’t practice. Even building a fire is not easy if you’ve only done it once or twice.

Not only is it vital to practice using your tools during good times, when you have back-up options available, but you need to test your tools to be sure that they operate as intended.

I once purchased a water filtration system for use during off-grid situations. It was missing an essential gasket. Without that gasket, it would be totally useless.

Sure, I could have tried to jerry rigged something, but the point of buying all of this stuff is to save having to jerry rig. Because I checked out my tool before I needed it, I was able to send it back and get a replacement.

Bad Strategy #5: “I’ll just run a generator and continue on like nothing ever happened.”

Generators are loud, smelly, and finite.

If you want to bring attention to yourself in the midst of a down-grid scenario, the surest way to do it is to be the only house in the area with lights blazing in every window. Generators are commonly stolen, because they’re impossible to hide, rumbling away beside your house. A person with ill intent would be likely to think that if you have a generator with extra fuel, you might have some other awesome stuff that they’d want too.

Keep in mind, if you do opt to use a generator, that this is not a long-term solution. There’s only so much fuel that anyone can store. Eventually, it’s going to run out, and if your plan was completely dependent on being able to run a generator, what will you do then?

Bad Strategy #6: “I’ll just use my fireplace for cooking and heating.”

If using your fireplace or woodstove is part of your survival plan, how much wood do you have? Is it seasoneed and dry? Can you acquire more? Have you actually chopped wood before? Recently? When is the last time you prepared food using your stove or fireplace?

The good news is, you can make this strategy work, as long as you ramp up your wood supply and begin using your fireplace or woodstove on a regular basis to work out the bugs in your plan now.

Bad Strategy #7: “I’m going to bug-in, in the city and scavenge what I need.”

This is a terrible idea on so many levels it’s hard to know where to start.

First of all, when utilities are interrupted, those in large metropolitan areas are left with few options. It’s hard to dig a toilet in the concrete jungle. Remeber when New York was hit by Superstorm Sandy? People were defecating in the halls of apartment buildings to try and keep their own apartments moderately sanitary. Unfortunately, sewage built up in the pipes and spewed into apartments, filling them with deadly human waste.

Store shelves will quickly be emptied before and after disasters, leaving little to scavenge. If you happen across the wrong place, you’re likely to be shot by a property owner defending his or her goods.

If you wait too long to evacuate, roadways will be blocked, and you can end up being a refugee, with no option but camps. Cities will be populated with desperate people, some of whom were criminals before the disaster struck.

Even those who were friendly neighbors before the disaster can turn on you, because desperation can turn anyone into a criminal in order to feed their families.

Highly populated areas withoutoutdoor space will quickly become death traps in the wake of a disaster.

Its not a CON-Trail

Mentioning the word ‘chemtrails’ on a public bus or Facebook is bound to earn you a few eye rolls from eavesdroppers and sceptical family members.

However, while scepticism – regardless of the source – isn’t exactly the worst thing in the world, it appears that those who believe strongly in the idea that the U.S. government is spraying dangerous chemicals into the atmosphere may have been onto something after all.

The evidence? No, not some YouTube video by a retired NASA janitor. This time, you’ve got an actual official government document from the U.S. admitting to the placement of chemicals in our atmosphere.

To start with, Dr. Norman A Beckman begins by requesting a report on the history of weather modification. Washington, D.C., July 30, 1976.

Dr. Norman A. Beckman, Acting Director, Congressional Research Service, Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.

Dear Dr. Beckman: Weather modification, although a relatively young science, has over the years stimulated great interest within the scientific, commercial, governmental, and agricultural communities.

Although the Soviets and some U.S. private operators claim some success in suppressing hail by seeding clouds, our understanding of the physical processes that create hail is still weak.

The one major U.S. held experiment increased our understanding of severe storms, but otherwise proved mostly the dimensions of what we do not yet know.

For over 30 years both legislative and executive branches of the Federal Government have been involved in a number of aspects of weather modification.

That last statement alone should have you clicking on google to see the full facts. Share it with your more sceptical friends and see what they have to say

Additional details on Chemtrails vs Contrails is also available online and it appears that Geoengineering, Solar Radiation Management, Climate-Engineering, Weather Modification, HAARP, & “Chemtrails” Cloud-seeding & rudimentary weather control was a somewhat old technology, back when I was a little kid.

I remember watching the contrails & wondering as the years have gone by, why some of them behaved differently. Genuine contrails, are merely condensation forming behind certain engines at specific altitudes, & dissipate as you watch.

They never lasted very long. There are others though, colloquially referred to as “chemtrails”, which I noticed behaved differently, even under the same weather conditions, long before I knew the different terms they were given.

Rather than dissipating almost as soon as they’re formed, as actual contrails do, these would remain for long periods of time, gradually dispersing into a haze – often blanketing the sky for many hours.

When I’ve watched the end of a contrail, dissipating in real time as the jet flies along, while chaff from another plane is obviously dispersing into a recognizable haze – I can clearly see the difference, and if you are honest so can you.

Preppers Will be Next

My fellow preppers the times are a changing for real. Governments here and in the US are planning to curtail our liberties in the name of freedom and security and that we all know is a total con.

If they were bothered about security then our borders would not be left open to all and sundry to simply walk across.

It they were bothered about freedom then they would not be forcing GM crops on us, stopping us from growing food or from storing water, they would not be planning to take our guns away and they would not be snooping on us at every turn, would they?

I have mentioned on previous shows that it is now illegal in New Zealand and some US states to grow your own food and to sell it or give it away or to store rain water.

I also mentioned that the EU is now planning to make it illegal to store heirloom seeds or grow anything that is not on their list.

Most of these liberties are openly enjoyed by the general public, but my friends they are actually aimed at you the prepper and survivalist to prevent you being able to independently survive.

If a new law is passed here in the UK then anyone who criticises Sharia law or gay marriage could be branded an “extremist” under sweeping new powers planned by the Conservatives to combat terrorism.

Theresa May, the Home Secretary, unveiled plans last month for so-called Extremism Disruption Orders, which would allow judges to ban people deemed extremists from broadcasting, protesting in certain places or even posting messages on Facebook or Twitter without permission.

Mrs May outlined the proposal in a speech at the Tory party conference in which she spoke about the threat from the so-called Islamic State – also known as Isis and Isil – and the Nigerian Islamist movement Boko Haram.

These new orders would extend to any activities that “justify hatred” against people on the grounds of religion, sexual orientation, gender or dihsability.

The obvious problem with this is that Leftists and Islamic supremacists constantly advance the false claim that opposition to jihad terror and Islamic supremacism is justifying hatred against people, and the government clearly endorses this view. So this law will be used to curtail any opposition to the advance of Sharia in the UK.

In the US the Government is actively seeking those who criticize government, and arresting them without charging them. They are remanded to mental health institutions where they are given “training” on how to view the world.

Remind you of a little book that George Orwell wrote? It gets worse. Most of the victims of the government’s kidnapping scheme are veterans.

Since the start of Operation Vigilant Eagle, the government has steadily ramped up its campaign to “silence” dissidents, especially those with military backgrounds.

Coupled with the DHS’ dual reports on Right wing and Left wing “Extremism,” which broadly define extremists as individuals and groups “that are mainly anti-government, rejecting federal authority in favour of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely,” these tactics have boded ill for anyone seen as opposing the government.

One particularly troubling mental health label being applied to veterans and others who challenge the status quo is “oppositional defiance disorder” (ODD).

The ODD denotes that the person exhibits ‘symptoms’ such as the questioning of authority, the refusal to follow directions, stubbornness, the unwillingness to go along with the crowd, and the practice of disobeying or ignoring orders.

Persons may also receive such a label if they are considered free thinkers, nonconformists, or individuals who are suspicious of large, centralized government…

At one time the accepted protocol among mental health professionals was to reserve the diagnosis of oppositional defiance disorder for children or adolescents who exhibited uncontrollable defiance toward their parents and teachers.”

The case of 26-year-old decorated Marine Brandon Raub—who was targeted because of his Facebook posts, interrogated by government agents about his views on government corruption, arrested with no warning.

Labelled mentally ill for subscribing to so-called “conspiratorial” views about the government, detained against his will in a psych ward for standing by his views, and isolated from his family, friends and attorneys—is a prime example of the government’s war on veterans.

So how many of you admit that you too have had such thoughts about the parasites in our elected houses?

OK we only have ourselves to blame as we voted for them. But they are now becoming a deadly enemy as they trample over our laws and constitutions in a mad race to their NWO.

Successive US governments have continuously chipped away at the provisions of the American Constitution to a point where it in real terms no longer exists.

Here in the UK a former Prime Minister was either black mailed because of his alleged paedophile activities or openly conned the UK into the vile EU government that now passes over 70% of our laws.

Now is the time to practice OPSEC as if they do not know what we’re doing then there is less chance of them being able to disrupt our plans.

If your laws allow you to open carry or to concealed carry, or as it is in the UK carry a non-locking pen knife with a 3″ or less cutting blade then you must exercise this right as if you do not it will be removed that I can say for sure.

Surely now you can see that our elected government is following a pre-planned course of oppression against its very only population and it is therefore now more than ever up to us to secure our own future and the system has no intention of helping us no matter what happens.

Is it just me?

Statistics by Cancer Research UK reveal that within 15 years, 50 men out of every 100 are likely to be diagnosed with the disease at some point in their lifetime, as opposed to 44 out of every 100 in 2010.

Women’s lifetime cancer risk is also increasing and is predicted to rise from 40 to 44 out of every 100 women by 2027.

Is it just me or have things been tipped on their heads?

In the 60’s it was the fashion to smoke even the TV news readers smoked whilst reading the news and from what I can find there were around 10,000 deaths per year attributable to smoking.

Now in the naughty’s smoking is a social no, no, you are treated like an outcast if you smoke, so very few people actually smoke now.

Unlike the strong un-tipped cigarettes of the 60’s today we have low tar and filter tips but the deaths attributable to smoking is in the 100’s of thousands how can this be?

Well I have two theories that I feel could help explain these figures, it is however your choice whether or not you accept them.

The first cause I would argue is the motorway hold up experienced by all those who travel to and from work by car each day.

One of two settings on your heating system will be in operation, either it will be on hot or cold and even if switched off I believe this effect will still be the case.

We pull up behind the car in front and we sit in our sealed cabins while the heating system sucks in the poisonous exhaust fumes from the car in front.

Remember people use these fumes to kill themselves when committing suicide. What can these poisonous fumes be doing to our bodies when we are exposed to them twice a day at least five days each week?

Theory number two goes like this.

We are all aware of the biological effects of nuclear radiation and the increase in cancers and thus deaths suffered by those exposed to radiation, the Japanese bombs and Chernobyl being prime examples.

Is it then unrealistic to expect that as thousands of nuclear bombs have been exploded in tests all over the world, and all of the ground burst weapons will have generated radioactive fallout which will have travelled around the world and descended on us the unsuspected citizens of the world.

These two personal theories are just that personal and my musings BUT what if?

Donate just £2 a month to fund life-changing projects:

Recently aid charities have been targeting us here in the UK with pictures of African children having to drink dirty water from contaminated sources.

While I think it is horrific to see this happening and I wish that it could be prevented for ever.

What I cannot understand is why it is happening in the first place?

Here are three statements from their website.

  1. Help build a well – so children don’t have to drink filthy river water that’s teeming with parasites, bacteria and animal waste
  2. Put taps and pumps in the heart of a community – daily treks to the river with a heavy jerry can are tiring and leave little time for school or work
  3. End the threat of diarrhoea, which kills 2,000 children every day

Statement one is a disgrace in this day and age and it is clearly the fault of the village elders in failing to pass down the basics of water filtering and purification to each new generation.

Surely they know who to build a basic sand and gravel filter? Surely they know to boil their water and if not why has the world notbtold or shown them how to do it, if they have forgotten how to survive as a people in their own country.

I must also say that the intention of these charities is to dig down to find water, well what are the villagers doing all day then besides just sitting around, why do they not dig their own wells.

Statement two regards the placing of taps in villages so the kids do not have to walk a long distance to get the water in the first place. Why not just move the village to the water problem solved,

I would have thought it would have been there anyway as all civilisations have always camped and built along river courses you just need to look at the location of our major towns and cities to see how they are situated by rivers and water courses.

Statement three would not be true if basic water hygiene was practiced and villages were situated by water sources.

Overall I fail to see how whole tribes are in this mess in the first place, if anything they should be teaching us their survival techniques and tricks for living where they do.

I do not get it.

Making a Homemade Dirty Bomb is Not Easy.

As the government has informed us that a Secondary school dropout street punk can make a dirty bomb, let’s do a thought experiment.

Let’s make one.

The government descriptions are of radioactive material being dispersed by an explosion. Essentially all candidate materials are metals.

The requirement is to disperse the metal.

Clearly if it is in one piece we might as well just throw it away as No explosion is going to turn it into more than a few pieces.

Those pieces can be found quite easily by Geiger counters.

To kill people we have to get them to eat it or inhale it. As people are not likely to eat pieces of metal they find on the street we are going to have to get people to inhale it or for it to be unnoticeable on their food. Therefore we must reduce the metal to a very fine powder.

With metals that would require a file and the finer the file the finer the pieces are of course. If you have ever done this or handled iron filings you know if you drop them they fall like stones.

They do not float away in the wind and no one is going to inhale them and they would be spat out if chewed. We could drop them off of a high building in a strong breeze but that doesn’t do much for dispersion.

Even if as fine as talcum powder (no easy task) the particles are a hundred times heavier than talcum powder and fall rather than blow away in the wind.

So we have to find a way to get the material fine enough to be dispersed by the wind. To do that the best way is to burn it. That will produce relatively light metal oxide particles.

This can disperse through the air in a stiff breeze and can be inhaled or fall on food.

The best candidate metal is uranium isotope number 235, the one used to make one type of atom bomb. This is slightly heavier than lead. Back when we had lead in gasoline the burned lead came out of the exhaust.

That was so heavy it didn’t get much beyond the footpath so we will still need that tall building.

Uranium burns quite well once started, so mixing the powder with thermite or magnesium will cause a nice burn and on top of a tall building about the best dispersion we are going to get.

It is not “the taller the better” and “the stronger the breeze the better” as we don’t want it falling beyond the target area or, depending on location, or even blowing it out to sea.

It would take some study to determine building height to wind velocity to maximize the results.

Despite the government’s implication we cannot drop into the local university and get a few ounces of U235. But if we could get hold of a few ounces it would come in a lead container weighing a half ton or more.

And after having it and developing a filing machine and collection apparatus the machine would have to work in a lead enclosure in the ten ton range. The mixing with magnesium would have to be done in the room.

This increases our requirement to having a human operator having control of the equipment from outside the room drastically increasing the cost.

As we can make the assumption this is a suicide mission the designated bomber can rush in to pick up a briefcase and head for the tall building and ignite it on the roof. We have now been successful suicide terrorists.

Because of the necessary contamination of the assembly area that person will most certainly die of radiation poisoning due to massive exposure. If not that then certainly because whatever he carries it in will not have the half ton of lead shielding needed to prevent his death by radiation poisoning.

But our success is limited. Exploded or burned outside on top a tall building with a stiff breeze either dust or burned Uranium can cover and contaminate a wide area — until the first decent rain washes it down the sewers.

What doesn’t wash away will certainly collect in pools of rain water making clean-up efforts much easier. We also do not want it too dispersed or else it will be hard to detect above natural background radiation and the media will not become as hysterical.

We have also made a trade-off between burned Uranium which people have a chance of inhaling against a fine dust which essentially cannot be inhaled.

Dust has to fall on food unnoticed and eaten leaving the risk only to food exposed and being eaten while it is settling.

This would of course leave the customers of open air food markets at risk but little would be eaten and the loss limited to one days’ exposed food.

With this success we have created massive hysteria in the media and in the people stirred up by the media. But with neither dust nor burning is there enough radiation in one place or ingested or inhaled by one person to cause radiation poisoning.

What we have achieved will only be measurable statistically.

Starting no sooner than a year later there will be a small statistical increase in radiation related forms of cancer. Actual deaths will not start until perhaps a year or more after that. This statistical increase may be noticeable for another twenty years until things are back to normal.

We will not have hospitals filled with thousands of victims of radiation poisoning.

In the process of designing this weapon we have discovered there are very few useful radioactive materials.

Those commonly available as in smoke detectors are in much too small a quantity and do not put out significant dangerous radioactivity.

Another relatively safe isotope of Uranium, 238, is called depleted Uranium. It was used extensively in anti-tank shells during the Gulf War. That is all over Iraq along the ‘highway of death’ and thus freely available.

There is no good source of U235 outside of a highly guarded weapons plant.

Some universities do have it for research purposes but it is never in large quantities and most always in the form of salts or oxides. It is not in large quantities as the more in one container the more radioactivity it produces.

The larger the sample the more dangerous it is to handle. Fortunately research other than for bombs requires only very small quantities.

It is in the form of salts, such as chlorides so that it is soluble in water for some experiments or as an oxide exactly so that it cannot burn with the attendant risks. So any oxide stolen can be used only for dispersion not burning.

Put it all together and a theft from a university source might yield a few thousandths of an ounce, a few milligrams. As it is in a form which can only be used for explosive dispersal it has that tendency to fall like a rock so it won’t disperse very far and is not likely to be inhaled.

The real danger of its use would be the hysteria in the news media and the panic the media would cause and then cover.

In the process of designing this weapon we have learned there is natural background radioactivity and the amount and type of radioactivity to harm people.

We have learned the only people who would die in the first few years after it is set off would be those caught in the initial fire or explosion.

We have also learned the safety requirements for preparing such a weapon and that the government can discover us by our purchases of lead and industrial robotic equipment.

And if we don’t do everything right we will be dead before half started.

Above all we have learned high school dropout street thugs are not of use except as the designated suicide bomber.

Now the one other alternative are the spent core rods from nuclear reactors.

If we could get some of this, it starts as a new fuel rod at 3% instead of the over 90% concentration for weapons grade material. So the actual amount of radiation is drastically lower to begin with.

When it is spent, ready for reprocessing, they have a wide range of highly radioactive elements which are quite suitable for dirty bombs.

However the problems of obtaining this are greater than stealing U235 from a research facility. Whereas a university would have a night watchman or two, nuclear power plants have 24/7 armed guards, security fences and intrusion detection systems.

If these can be overcome we will find spent fuel rods in huge tanks of water.

If we can remove them we have to put them into the multi-ton lead containers we brought with us. During the hours this would take with our huge truck and cranes, the people working there have called the police.

We could try hijacking a truck carrying the rods to the reprocessing plant. We discover, unlike the movies, the trucks do not travel back roads in the country but on the motorways with police escorts.

We would have about as much chance of getting away as a speeder on police video with ten times the resources after us.

My Mum

It is getting really bad here in the UK food prices are taking off and many ordinary people are unable to put enough food on their children’s plates every day of the week, the old time recipes of Mum and Mum’s mum have been lost or to be more accurate “Never learnt” in the first place.

A whole generation of cooking knowledge has been abandoned to fast food junk and TV meals, to burgers and chips, to so called chicken nuggets and chips.

When was the last time you sat down with your family and ate a Sunday lunch?

I remember sitting around the dinner table for an evening meal with the whole family every day, it was prepared and cooked by mum and it tasted great as well.

But it was more than tasty, it was nutritious, healthy and was simply meat and two veg as the old saying goes. The meals where rotated so that there was variety and to some extent they were controlled by budget but never the less due to Mum’s ability to prepare and plan interesting menus we survived.

It seems to me that these days young Mum’s buy pre-packed food for their kids and by doing so they have no control over what their children are actually eating and therefore they ingest high quantities of salt, sugar and goodness knows how many E’s.

Old preparation skills have also been forgotten or not even learned, for example, how many young Mum’s can dress game, clean fish, make soup, make pastry, make bread, buns, scones, remember these are all the skills that Mum’s where taught by their Mum’s and passed from generation to generation.

These skills are every day survival skills, these skills are the very skills that we as a people will be forced to use when SHTF, but there is now a whole generation that cannot do these things anymore.

How will they and their kids survive when the pre-packed food and tins run out, what will they eat.

There are many different ways that my Mum used to bulk out our meals when times were hard, she used to put barley and or lentils in to soups to make them more filling, she used to use chicken carcasses to make soup, she even bought vegetable cuttings to make soups as well and you know once she had put the barley and or lentils into the soup it tasted great and really filled you up, what I remember is that there was always enough for seconds.

The preparing of foods and the idea of bulking it out are survival skills that my Mum used every day without thinking; she just got on with it and survived.

Perhaps it was because Mum had gone through the war (she was in fighter command) and carried on her frugal ways after the war I used to think that made her such a great cook and provider, but you know I was wrong it was her Mum she once told me that had shown her how to go on.

My Mum’s generation all knew how to make do and they accepted that having to do so was a way of life and nothing special.

Survivalists and Preppers alike should embrace these make do methods as not only do they work, they are very economic too and I feel that they should now be included in all our prepping and planning as they make sense..

Thanks Mum, I miss you.
